The Royal Tapestry Factory is an institution founded in 1720 and devoted to the handmade production of tapestries, rugs and wallrugs.
Tapestries and rugs from this place can be seen in every palace of the Spanish crown,as well as in other national and international institutions. King Felipe V decide to found this factory in order to make Spanish palaces more comfortable. Many artists started to paint cardboard and drafts for their tapestries. Tapestries made by Goya can be admired in several museums. Today, the factory continues with handmade production as well as training new craftsmen.
