But of course this is not the only culinary experience waiting for us. Tiziana will take us on an Italian grocery shopping tour, and Cristina is organising a Valentine's Wine & Tapas evening in area 4/5.

To feed our creativity, Elaine invites us to a Mardi Gras Mask Crafting evening, and all outdoor enthusiasts can join Brigitte on a walk in Dehesa de la Golondrina. Last but not least, our area coffee mornings are also coming up. Enjoy!

MESSAGE FROM THE
VICE PRESIDENT TEAM

Wow! We have had a great response to our next monthly meeting at Restaurant Caluana and we are so excited to share this culinary and historical experience with you. One of our original goals for planning our INC events this year was to incite all five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. We are confident our lunch will do just that but it will also evoke a sense of friendship, community and belonging as we take a moment to “share bread” and celebrate our “Galentine” moment together.

For planning purposes, however, we must close our RSVP date this Thursday (February 10th) so please be sure to make your payment (via credit card or bank transfer) prior to this date and/or communicate your intent to the VP team. As a reminder, your dues will offset a portion of this specialized set menu to the cost of Є25 (guests are welcome at the full price of Є35). Please also note that any dietary meal requests must be made by the RSVP date as well otherwise the restaurant may not be able to accommodate your needs.

Due to restaurant capacity, space is of course limited for this activity. No RSVP’s can be modified or refunded after February 10th as we will have already paid the restaurant for your attendance.

Tiziana, one of our fellow members, will introduce original Italian groceries to us. We will visit Mangitalia, an Italian shop located in Chamberí, where Tiziana will show us different types of pasta and other products, wines included, explaining their use and offering meal ideas.

Elaine, one of our fellow members, will introduce us to the art of Mardi Gras mask crafting.
|
Mardi Gras (in French) or Fat/Shrove Tuesday (in English) celebrates the last day before the 40 days of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, leading up to Easter.
In New Orleans and other cities around the world, Mardi Gras and Carnival is celebrated with extravagant parades and masked balls.

Our fellow member Brigitte de Cleer will take us on a beautiful walk starting in Navacerrada. We will head to Dehesa de la Golondrina, passing the Ermita de San Antonio, the Observatorio de aves (bird watching place), la Fuente de los Cabreros, and finally we will oversee the Sierra de la Guadarrama and Navacerrada.
