City walking tour in Lavapiés with Holly Come and join us on this city walking tour in Lavapiés led by our lovely member Holly.
The most multicultural neighborhood in Madrid. It’s a cool, bohemian, edgy place, full of culture and street art. Our lovely member Holly lived in this ‘barrio’ for many years and it is still her absolute favourite. She will share with us her best haunts.
Please wear good shoes because the medieval streets are steep and we will be walking! Those of us who are feeling peckish or thirsty after the walk can delight their taste buds with an exotic aperitivo or beverage! In the late twentieth century, a microcosm made up of 88 different nationalities emerged in Lavapiés, a phenomenon not seen in the rest of Spain.
This ethnically diverse neighbourhood now nurtures a wealth of exotic cuisines, religious temples of various kinds, self-managing associations, art galleries, theatres, etc. All this just a stone’s throw from the centre of the city.
