Guided Visit to Teatro Real (Opera House)

Come join us on this English guided tour of the Opera House in Madrid. Located opposite the Royal Palace, and known colloquially as El Real, it is considered the top institution of the performing and musical arts in the country and one of the most prestigious opera houses in Europe. Discover the history of the Teatro Real from its inauguration in 1850 to the present day.
The building displays a combination of architectural styles. The theatre’s crown jewel, however, is its 1,472 m² stage area. This is the heart of the opera house and allows for very complex set changes thanks to its 18 articulated platforms which permit multiple combinations both on the stage and in the orchestra pit. With a maximum capacity of 1,958 seats in its main hall, depending on staging requirements, the theatre features 28 boxes on its different floors, in addition to eight proscenium boxes and a double-height Royal Box.
We will be shown the structure of the building, the decoration and artwork of the public spaces, how an opera house works and many curiosities that are housed in it.
