Have you ever wondered what role has been given to women in the art world and why have most of the artists been silenced? What positions did they take? The Maestras (Female Masters) exhibition brings together a hundred pieces of artists who, in response to their erasure in the history of art, today are once again recognised as masters .
The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum is hosting a group exhibition that presents a journey from the end of the 16th century to the first decades of the 20th century.
Women Masters is the first major exhibition to reflect the process of how women artists committed themselves to the times they had to live, took a stance and contributed new iconographies and alternative looks. It benefits from the collaboration of the Comunidad de Madrid and sponsored by Carolina Herrera.
