June 1 @ 10:30 am – 2:30 pm
Please join us for the final and most spectacular walk with Brigitte this season. The Peñalara Massif is the site with the highest concentration of high mountain lakes and ponds in the Sierra de Guadarrama. In this area there are several wetlands with a great interest and ecological value, whose origin is linked to the activity during the last glaciation period.
Among all of them, we emphasize the Peñalara lake ( la Laguna Grande de Peñalara ). It is located at 2019 m of altitude at the Peñalara glacial cirque. Its maximum depth attains 4,7 m and its water surface reaches 5779 square meters.
We will begin our walk from Cotos, passing the Mirador de la Gitanilla and other beautiful sights. Please bring a snack/light lunch along for us to enjoy overlooking the beautiful glacier lake. The hike is a bit longer than Brigitte’s regular walks meaning that we will start at 10.30 sharp and are expected to finish between 2.30-3 (to ensure that everyone who needs to be back for school pick up can be so). Good walking shoes, layered clothing, sufficient water and sunscreen are recommended. We hope to walk together with you! Category
