Walking and Exploring Madrid

This time, Isotta Peira – one of our members, will take us on a walk though some of her favourite areas in Madrid!
She will take us to the historical area around Plaza de Mayor, Sol and Royal Palace.
We will see various streets with old established shops and restaurants that have existed for hundreds of years, such as Casa Labra, Librería San Ginés, and Farmacia de la Reina Madre.
We’ll meet in Puerta del Sol, under the Bear statue (El Oso y el Madroño). Then we’ll walk to the Royal Palace, and along the walk we will visit the iconic Mercado de San Miguel and stop and explore other centennial shops and hidden gems of Madrid. The walk will finish at Plaza Mayor where we can eat the traditional Bocadillo de Calamares (Fried calamari sandwich) (or something else 🙂 in one of the most famous and historic taverns.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and it’s always a good idea to bring some water along.
Don’t worry if you forget: there will be plenty of places to buy drinks or snacks!
The walk is free of cost but please bring some money along if you want to purchase anything along the route.
