Chagall: A Cry of Freedom DESCRIPTION:Chagall: A Cry of Freedom Marc Chagall (1887-1985)\, whose life spanned two world wars and an exile\, left a body of work deeply rooted in the history of the 20th century. The embodiment of uprootedness and migration\, like so many figures in his oeuvre\, the artist moved around the world at the mercy of the upheavals of his century\, from his childhood in White Russia to France\, from Germany to Palestine and from the United States to Mexico\, before finally settling by the Mediterranean. \n\n\n\n This exhibition\, the result of a collaboration between La Piscine – Musée d’Art et d’Industrie André Diligent (Roubaix)\, Fundación MAPFRE and the Musée national Marc Chagall in Nice. \n\n\n\n Our member\, Paola Landazabal\, Art Consultant and Dealer\, with a background in navigating the global art market\, will lead us into the exhibition and embark on a journey of artistic discovery and offer us an overview of his work in the light of the historical events that Chagall had to face and the stances he adopted in the face of them. In a proposal that represents the first complete reading of his work from this perspective: that of his unconditional idealism\, his unshakeable belief in universal peace and the firm socio-political commitment that derives from it. \n\n\n\n Buy tickets here.  \n\n\n\n\nRSVP INFO *\n\n\n\nRSVP: please purchase a ticket for the 11.15 slot\, should this slot be sold out please purchase for 11.30. Barbara de Simone\, our fellow member will introduce us to one of the most important Museums in Madrid\, also one of it’s least well-known. Located in what used to be the stately home of the 17th Marquis of Cerralbo\, visitors to the museum are transported back in time to experience what life was like for an aristocratic family in late 19th-century Madrid. \n\n\n\nThe classical style Palace\, decorated with Neo-Baroque and Rococo elements\, was designed with a dual purpose\, as a home and museum\, headquarters of the works of art collected by the Marquis of Cerralbo and his children\, the Marquises of Villa-Huerta\, during their many trips in Spain and Europe. Therefore\, the museum is made up of over 50\,000 objects\, including paintings\, sculptures\, ceramics\, glass\, tapestry\, furniture\, coins\, medals\, drawings\, stamps\, clocks\, weapons\, armour\, and archaeological objects… The Marquis of Cerralbo donated this property to the nation\, setting up the Cerralbo Museum\, so that his collections would live on “together and can be used for study by science and art lovers”. We look forward to having this beautiful experience together! \n\n\n\n * Meeting Point & Time: In front of the main entrance with your ticket at 10:50. Childhood in Sorolla’s painting” at the Sorolla Museum. With the emergence of naturalism in the arts\, at the end of the 19th century\, the themes of everyday life became popularised: work\, family life and leisure became valid matters for painting; highlighting among all of them childhood. Sorolla\, like his contemporaries\, but with a quality difficult to achieve\, painted numerous works in which the little ones erected themselves as the main motif. \n\n\n\nThey are his famous maternity homes\, the beautiful family scenes\, the numerous portraits\, the paintings where children represent the “joy of water” and also paintings in which the teacher approaches alternative types of childhoods\, less fortunate\, harder\, but always portrayed with great affection and dignity. We will have a coffee and talk about the exhibition at a cafe nearby afterwards. \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you there! \n\n\n\nGeneral admission: 3 Euros / Free entrance for “Annual Pass of National Museums” holder \n\n\n\nLocation: Museo de Sorolla – P.º del Gral.
