Welcome back everyone…by Kirsty Leggatt

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back from your summer vacations!! It’s been a slow start for me unfortunately. Whilst we didn’t leave Madrid for any extended period, it’s been hard adjusting to the ramp up to the social calendar!

In fact, I do have to mention that we loved staying in Madrid over the summer. Yes, it was hot and a little frustrating as I’m used to being within walking distance of a beach — but it was QUIET! For the first time ever, there were available car parks in our street. The traffic was light and it was possible to get into a restaurant pretty much whenever we wanted — bonus!

We did take a weekend trip to Alicante last weekend. It’s a beautiful city and well worth a visit. As usual, in the coastal places the weather can be temperamental and it was cloudy but being on the Mediterranean, the water was a fabulous temperature, quite warm actually. We booked an apartment through Airbnb. The apartment was very modern and well appointed and right on the beach, with a fabulous view over the ocean. The complex also had a large pool with loads of sun lounges. It was perfect and a lot cheaper than some of the hotels that we looked at. If you haven’t heard of Airbnb, it’s worth checking out, particularly if you have children, or a group.

I’d like to remind everyone to please consider writing a submission for our blog. It doesn’t have to be long or poetic or Nobel Prize worthy. We’d love to hear about your visits to other countries or cities, or about a particular tour or experience — all submissions are gladly received!
